These terms cover the GolfEx app for golfers, the GolfEx console for golf course staff, this website and the GolfEx text message programs, all provided by GolfEx LLC (“GolfEx”, “we”). By using any of them you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Using GolfEx
You must be 13 or older to use GolfEx. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- The golfer app is for golfers invited by a course that uses GolfEx.
- The console is for staff the course has given an account. Keep your sign-in to yourself.
- Don’t misuse GolfEx: don’t try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, disrupt the service, or send abusive messages.
Safety alerts are a help, not a guarantee
GolfEx passes on weather, lightning and evacuation information to help courses and golfers act quickly. Weather data can be late or wrong, and phones, networks, notifications and texts can be delayed or fail to arrive. Always use your own judgement, follow the course’s instructions and posted safety rules, and seek shelter when you see lightning or hear thunder, whether or not GolfEx has alerted you.
SMS Terms
GolfEx LLC ("GolfEx") runs two text message programs for golfers playing at golf courses that use GolfEx:
- Pro shop texts: messages from your course's pro shop during your round, such as answers to your questions, help on the course and course notices. They're sent when a pro shop message goes unread in the GolfEx app. You can reply by text.
- Safety texts: evacuation, lightning and high-wind alerts for the course you're playing, and notice if the course's live alerts are down.
Joining. In the GolfEx app, enter your mobile number and tick the box for each program you want. You don't need to join either program to use the app or play.
Frequency. Message frequency varies with your round and the conditions on your course. Texts are sent only while your round is in progress.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply.
Stopping. Reply STOP to the number that texted you. Each program has its own number, so stopping pro shop texts doesn't stop safety texts. You can also turn either program off in the app under Me > Notifications. Reply START to join again.
Help. Reply HELP, or email apps@golfex.io.
Delivery. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Texts can be delayed or fail to arrive, so always follow the safety procedures posted at your course and the instructions of course staff.
Privacy. Your mobile number and SMS consent are handled under our Privacy Policy (https://golfex.io/privacy). GolfEx LLC does not share them with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
More detail, with examples of each text, is on the Text messages page.
The service
We work to keep GolfEx available and accurate, but it is provided “as is”, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features. To the extent the law allows, GolfEx isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, where GolfEx LLC is organized.
Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Continuing to use GolfEx after a change means you accept the new terms.
